Coaches,
We may be in a position to get some new boats. Yes, boats. So we need some priorities. I asked for a budget so we know what we have to work with. Obviously the sky is not the limit and we have put together lists before. But this seems real.

Still trying to sell the Webster, which we needed this season for the boys 2V. It is a heavy 8+ and few need a boat, especially a Pocock, that big. We'll keep that as a separate matter until we have a buyer.

When we get a budget we can prioritize but until then, if you wish, send in your priorities. I'm thinking at least one 8+, after that it will depend on our budget. Vespoli has a DSL 8+ in FL, we tried it last season and the light men liked it. I think it's 3 years old and been a demo/rental in that time.

I think we can all agree that we'd prefer to get some more Pococks!

What about a women's 8 (since men's have the newest 8) and a men's 4 (since women have newest 4

Sean, that's what I was thinking and despite Bridget's wishes I was not considering any Pococks. I'm not a Vespuchi fan or a detractor for that matter but they are available. Parts are not an arm and a leg as with Resolute.

I was thinking an 8+ and an 4+ but if we can get more.... Still awaiting a budget.

Vespoli's are just so easy to adjust everything....whereas the Pocock presents a nice challenge :-)

Pococks are super easy to rig, easier than vespos they're just dumb. We're literally different corners of the country and they're expensive bathtubs

An advantage the Pococks used to enjoy was one could just move the riggers anywhere on the boat without changing spread. I don't think they enjoy this advantage over the newer Vespuchi wings.
My biggest objection is something Sean touched on and that is the logistics of having so many different boat makes in the BH. Almost impossible to keep an adequate supply of spare parts. Other considerations are ease of maintenance, especially replacing fins. Resolutes require a special clay to seal the fin box from water. Replacing rudders is even more complicated as they require one to cut and fit the rudder to the boat.
I like the simple bolt on fin of the Vespoli, anyone can do it without tools or sealant.

Contrary to what some might think I did not buy the Pococks. Only one boat bought since I came on board and that is the black Vespoli 4X which was a demo we got for less than full price.

The Swifts were bought a year or so before me, used from a club up north. Which is why Swift won't correct the rigger issue. Not sure where or how we got the Filippi 4X or 2X. They're old but still very stiff and under weight. The 4X is about a kg under weight so I put a steel weight in there a while ago. I haven't looked for it for some time but it might still be there.

Oh, Dan McNair is 100% responsible for the Pocock's! He switched out the fleet right before he left for Malaysia....

Filippi 2x was donated to SA by a former rowing family (the girl was on the team with Dana and myself in 2005), which was very generous.

Are you drawing a conclusion as to why he left the country?
