Hi Paul,

I wonder if you have any thought about creating a version of Saravasti
in Scala? I am moving away from hibernate and trying to use the scala
persistent layer like Squeryl unfortunately I found the transition
from a OO/Hibernate model to Squeryl is not trivial.

I like to hear your views especially since you have a Haskell version
of Sarasvati

I've played a bit with Scala and like the language. The Haskell
version was challenging and interesting to write, but ultimately
mostly useful as a brain stretching exercise for me. I think the same
would be true of a rewrite in Scala, if I did it. I'd be interested to
see how someone who wrote idiomatic Scala would evolve the interfaces
and implementation. I wouldn't be able to do it justice. Are you
thinking of giving it a try?

Cheers,
Paul

The thought of writing the project in Scala did cross my mind and to
do that I need to contend with the following issues
1. I am currently a Scala beginner
2. I lack an in-depth knowledge of Sarasvati
3. There is no equivalent of Hibernate in the Scala ORM space now. I
have explored both Circumflex and Squeryl for the last few days and I
decide that Squeryl was a better choice though I prefer Circumflex
syntax. If I have both time and relevant experience and knowledge I
would like to build JOOQ in scala and have Sarasvati to build on it :)

If you would to rewrite Sarasvati in Scala, which Scala ORM project
would you use? We can take this discussion offline
