GE All,

For those Folks who might want to use the IF Average Plugin in SDR#, i have finally got it to work..... i have put the details in a PDF. Now time to see what it does.

Yes,  I also have gotten the IF Average program working?   Although all I have seen so far is a slightly fuzzy horizontal line.

Is the only way to use this is realtime or  taking periodical screen shots.   No data collection?
I see  file and count/interval setting at the bottom but I don't know how to use them?

Any help would be great.

GM Mike,

I have not yet messed with those " file save " settings at the bottom of the Average Settings Window..... so at the moment i cant answer that question, i will check into that at some point however. My main concern was getting the Program running and see some results which i did. The following shots were made very early AM hours here of the CYG A Region, and, for moment i just use the Windows Snipping Tool to capture the IF Average Window.

H1 1 is was the start - ( before CYG A Region ) and after i did the Calibration run.
H1 3 shows the bump starting to build
H1 7 shows more of a hump and stretched out farther

i couldnt stay awake any longer so i missed the rest...... i may download that program the Folks used in the article to make the movie, but i assume i will have to figure out how the data save works to put into the program  :-))

You said " all i have seen so far is a slightly fuzzy line "  so i assume you ran the Calibration ?  if you dont run the Calibration you would have the wavy line.
I dont know what settings you are using so i will tell you what mine are and maybe give them a try.......

First in SDR# open the Configuration Window ( click the Cog in the upper left of the Window ) and set the Sample Rate at 1.92 MSPS..... ( this should give you a frequency range of 1419.750 to 1421.250 in the SDR# Window and the IF Average Window.

Next open the Display Window and turn off the Waterfall if you wish..... mine is off, i think it saves strain on the CPU by not running.

Now open the IF Average Window and Set:  FFT Resolution to 1024
                                                                              Intermediate Average to 1000
                                                                              Gain to 335 or 350
Level - you will have to adjust where the Trace is in the Window, mine has been around 900 to 1000
                                                                              Dynamic Averaging set at 902000

Be sure to do the Calibration

Set your Antenna for H line, get some popcorn and a drink and enjoy the show !  it is slow process of course and many hours watching things develop and go away  :-))

Dan

GE All,

I found a good use for saving those screen shots of the IF Average Window..... i knew i was detecting H! with my setup.  :)

Finally got a chance to run SDR# IF Average this after in the vicinity of Milkyway/Crab.
Also in the pictures you can see that I am collecting the cumulative averages  about every 6 to 7 minutes.
My parameters are in the picture.  I  live in northern IL usa   -89.8  x 42.15N
The data looks like this:

1420.324843750  0.001209639

So these could be plotted and perhaps 3D'd  like PARAC's plot.

I tried CFRAD2  but it fails getting started.  I must be missing something in my PC.

Just wanted to share my excitement of getting a good plot.

hello,

okay so i done the correction thing, first thing that i want to test it with scanning Sun, is there any graphic builder software or is there any way to make scientific research with IF average plug-in? I mean what can we do with IF average about H-Line, thanks!

Hi Harun,

There is a program called Chronolapse which captures a screen shot at time settings set by you, then you edit the screen shots to show what you want and the program makes a video, ( you can see a few of mine in other Postings ), i found this nice because i can scan for hours and not have to do the capturing.

Also, when you open the IF Average Settings Panel, at the bottom are settings for capturing and saving the FFT Data which can then be put into Excel Plots.

Other than these two things i know nothing  :)) In the old days there was the oscilloscope and Heathkit paper chart Plotter.... other Folks on here can help you with the Software, i have no clue what to do with finding files, compiling, making and building and so on....
