Andy,
I finally had a chance to listen to your great talk about getting started with VLF.  I had a small something that I wanted to add to the discussion, though I am a bit late to the party.  In the 1990s, a friend if mine, Alan Robison, was doing some VLF work and had the observation that his results seemed better when he nulled out the ground wave of the transmitter. He was using shielded tuned loops and the null was achieved by rotating the loop so that the transmitter lies along a line pointing through the center of the loop.  The strong groundwave signal he said, could obscure the skywave induced by the X-ray flare.  It seemed like an idea worth throwing out there.  Perhaps it could help someone who's located closer to the transmitter than is desirable..
I really enjoyed the talk.

Thanks Jim - a compliment like that from yourself is worth a great deal!
I will try rotating my antenna to see what the effect is....

Originally intended for cameras, up to 10kg. Doesn't say how to drive it, other than 24/220V AC, two versions? Also nothing about angles readout.

Original vendor seems to be this: (not https, your browser might whine)

Hi Jim

Thanks for your feedback – I tried rotating the 134cm aerial = interesting that some stations worsened and others improved = so Alan is probably correct!
