Hello.

I would like to know about the system used to attach a satellite dish to a tripod and accurately align it in both azimuth and elevation. Alex Pettit has already described his setup to me, but I would like to explore other options.

Do you use telescope mounts, or is there another system?

In my case, the tripod needs to reach a height of at least 1.50 meters to clear the balcony railing.

My current setup—the standard one for satellite dishes—doesn't allow for precise alignment.

Regards.

I cannot speak for the mount to tripod, but  for remote computer readout of 9 axis position at a reasonable cost,

Suggest the  wit-motion.com   series of WT901 modules, you can stick on the antenna (glue, Velcro, Bolton ,etc) with communication versions of Bluetooth, WIFI, or USB-Serial.

Telescope mounts work ok but be careful of EMI (may want to power off mount when collecting) You can find CG-5 telescope mount dovetail adapters for the Discover or NooElec dishes on eBay.

Eduard has experience with this. See his youtube channel.

This will work, but you need to counterbalance the elevation axis or the clamp screw  will not last
( Position along your local Meridian & only Elevation needs adjustment )
( & use a digital level )

I have used this  for   six  years.   I works well   with  right  angle bracket for   my  both of my dishes..    scan drifts.

I plan to use it  with my  new  drive  motors  for   my discovery dish
