Hi Eduard

I was very impressed by your home made 3 meter dish. It must have taken a lot of work to design and fabricate it. Have you ever considered getting one of those large tarps that they use for covering damaged roofs. You could put the tarp over the dish to protect it during rainy days. Then you wouldn't have to spend the time to disassemble and reassemble it so often.

I like your method of breaking the dish apart for storage.  Combining  2 squares (small one is the base and large one is the one meeting at the perimeter) with the curved trusses gives you a lot of triangles which add rigidity to your design.Also makes the separations straight. Good design!

The design has evolved quite a bit over the past 8 years… it was originally built as an 8- segment dish with galvanized 1cm mesh. Did not work very well but it was a decent start in radio astronomy. Since then practically all the components have been revised or replaced at least once… last year I rebuilt the whole thing converting it to its current 4- segment design, but I reused many components such as the central hub, parabolic ribs and the mesh.
