Has anyone had any success connecting to an SDR-14 using a Win10 x64 computer?

If so, How?

Mine refuses to load the drivers on the Spectravue CD.

Or am I simply SOL because of the 64-bit OS?

The good news Dave is that I was successful one time in loading drivers on my win 10 x 64. The bad news is keeping the drivers after your computer goes up for an upload for latest computer version. Probably a means up disabling the updating but have not taken time to find it. Hoping someone will come in with a better reply than mine.
To get a start google something like windows 10 unsigned drivers.

Hello Dave, Lester, all.

I don't have an SDR-14 but experienced similar issues with my first installation of rtl-sdr drivers.

About installing unsigned drivers:

https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

About disabling automatic drivers update:

http://beta.itprotoday.com/windows-server/stop-automatic-driver-updates-windows-10?utm_test=redirect

Beware that this will disable/enable updates for all device/drivers. I don't know of a selective configuration (per driver).

Mario

Grazie, Mario; thanks also to Lester and others who replied off-list.

I managed to get the SDR-14 working under Win10 x64. Spectravue demodulates
signals and Radio Sky Spectrograph makes pretty spectrograms, all as advertized.

It's a pretty inconvenient way of doing business, though.

One must boot into Win10 Test Mode, which puts a watermark on the screen letting
you know how evil you are for disabling the M$ revenue enhancement feature of
signed driver enforcement.

Then one has to find the secret three letter code group to recall the bombers
and open the Device Manage dialog, for it would be far too dangerous to make it
easy for users to access this. Then one installs the evil, unsigned driver.
Finally, one can reset the machine to not boot into Test Mode anymore.

The fun doesn't end there.

Win10 prevents software from writing to its own directory; therefore, older apps
can't save their settings. No doubt M$ is protecting me from having my children
sold into slavery through the internet if Spectravue and RSS were to write to
those ini files. I mean, after all, why should a program have write privileges
for the directory in which its executable is stored? That would be silly.

So, one must always run such programs as an Administrator, causing the defeat of
the whole point of security.

It is sad that what used to be easy is now so difficult. One might easier
accept the trials and travails of Win10 if there were a reason. Best I can
tell, however, there ain't one. Win10 does absolutely nothing for me that WinXP
has not done for 15 years.

Except, perhaps, make life more difficult. Oh, and phone one's every move back
home to Redmond.

Linux looks better every day.
