I understand this software can be used for Radio Astronomy (eg H-Line) with some extra bits – is that correct? What extra bits are those and how are they obtained?

Yes, I have used SDR Angel and found it very nice. I'm not sure what you mean by extra bits. It saves raw data to a .csv file .... not sure if ezRA has a file conversion program to format used by ezCon.py but not too hard to write a file conversion program in python.
