I have just been reminded of this important lesson – if you forget to plug in the ethernet cable into your Mini-PC that is running your data collection software when you rush out and put it in the box outside in the rain, then you cannot access your computer when back inside……and have to go back out and get wet again!

Seems an obvious lesson – but for some reason I keep forgetting it……

Hi Andy

Do you (or anyone on the list) have radio astronomy tasks with a lot of easy to forget but important details like this?

I stuffed up going through an airport and left a watch in a security tray while trying to retrieve a belt I had left in another security tray. Anyway I decided I really do need checklists in my life to prevent the big things being messed up by small details.

I have been working on some software to take the hassle out of checklist generation, evolution and typesetting. If anyone would like to test it out as beta testers next year and see if it is any use to anyone then I'd be grateful for the feedback. The approach is essentially to build a model / simulation of all your equipment and state transitions and then generate checklists from the model. Model driven checklists essentially. I'd do all the modelling, in return for some real world battle testing

Hope this is appropriate for the list

Charles.

Hi Charles. I might be interested in trying out your checklist generation app. For me it would be more in the context of my sailboat.
What platform does it run on?
How does the modeling work?

Hi Charles,
Me too, please. I used to be a process engineer, so I’d like to give it a shot out of theoretical interest alone. Though I can test it on some things too. IMHO checklists free the mind for other tasks.
Thanks, Wende
