 H Line 3D Project

IFAve_2_ CSV.jar

 software upgrade

mx+b   2 pt data set corrections

  CSN    Cold_Sky_Normalization

0 dB = referenced to Cold Sky

an enhancement  to the IFAvg2CSV conversion program has been uploaded

to the GitHub repository for 2 pt ( mx+b ) corrections

https://github.com/AP-HLine-3D/HLine3D

JA_IFAvg2csv_mxb_24nov0606.jar

It provides 'automatic' correction for drift errors

in a multi hour data acquisition

SDR# & IF_Average  File-Set sequence.

The files are Calibrated as each is normalized such that

Cold Sky = 0 dB on the corrected plots.

4 CSV Files are created :

Raw Spectra

Error

1pt Corrected Data

2pt mxb Corrected Data

Files can be read by Excel or plotted via

2D and 3D Rinearn Graphics

FYI, the 2D plots will help you understand the quality of your data.

Using a   'standardized' set of processing tools  with the dB scale referenced to Cold Sky (Cold_Sky_Normalization)
means you can compare  the amplitude  / quality of your data with others or make adjustments and see the improvement ..

1) There are other software procedures to create more complex plots.
2) You can design your own.
3) But its extremely useful for a beginner to be able to compare their results .
.
As others start using the software, improvements will be added.

Alex,

I have just benefited from your updated java script. I ran the 2
point conversion on some data previously captured and noted an
increase in dB referenced to cold sky. I am preparing a short paper
for the SARA journal as a beginners guide to using ChatGPT for
creating a median filter for mitigating the effects of RFI. I also
showed the correction of the drift of the data using your updated Java
script and the accompanying increase in the signal.

I don’t think you can make a useful guide on how to use chatgpt to generate code for median filtering or whatever. The stochastic nature of LLMs means that someone else might get a completely different output even if they use the exact same prompts that you put in to generate your code. Better to just publish the code with some explanation of what it does.

Good idea Eduard. I wrote a short paper for the SARA Journal
describing some of the RFI issues I have and how I used Chat GPT to
write a simple Python script. I thought about posting the code with
the paper but I was limited for space. I did leave my contact info in
the paper so if anyone wants the code I can send it to them.
