I have Nooelec H1 dish so I'm interested in how to build the loop feed. Read your post from 18 April about the ideal diameter of the copper wire and smiled at your advice " Nothing is exact .. or perhaps reworded "

When building a 3-D corner reflector a few years ago I followed L.B. Cebik's instruction in an early 2000s paper. Cebik's advice about placing the monopole, was don't be too fussy about the exact placement because we can't model it exactly.

Hello Bill,

Here's the info..  I had issues with the 6" pan & this dish. 

I suggest going back to a 5"x2" cake pan.

Agreed : modeling is challenging and must be validated by testing

Disagree : "don't be too fussy: Size and Placement are Critical  for Optimal Performance.

It is mandatory that any non-stick coating on the aluminum cake pan around the SMA connector be 

removed for reliable contact between the two .. inside & outside the pan.

My experience with circular feeds on the Nooelec antenna. I've built two and placed them at different distances from the antenna base. Both are molds covered with adhesive copper sheeting (I can provide the part numbers if anyone is interested). The results I obtained:

- Mold with a diameter of 13.5 cm and a depth of 4.5 cm: It worked very well when placed on a mast up to 27.5 cm (from the antenna base to the feed base). Above that distance, the H-line is not visible. One of the humps is too high and obscures the desired effect.

- Mold with a diameter of 15 cm and a depth of 5 cm: It didn't work at any distance from the mast. The same problem as before: one of the humps was always higher than the central hump. Why? I don't know.
