Mind you, a few years back there was chap living near me who made voltage generating rings using capacitors from old microwaves – his normal one that he took around schools as physics demonstration (until health and safety rules stopped it) generated 50,000 V and a relatively small but still impressive arc – but he showed me the one he had made which generated 500,000 V (yes, half a million!) – perhaps he should have been more health and safety conscious – we were inside his garage and this thing sent an arc right down the garage to hit the metal garage door.

 

…..I am just going to check the voltage I am sending up the bias tee on my H-Line scope…..
