I was able, a month ago, to get SDR# and IFAverage running on my new Windows 11 laptop, with some pointers from Alex.

It has now stopped working.  I get a message: "Problem starting IF procesorSystem.Corelib".  SDR# works fine, but the all important IFAverage plugin does not.

My guess is that one of Microsoft's never ending series of updates has created a problem.

Has anyone else run into this?

My Windows 10 laptop with SDR# and IFAverage fortunately continues to work.  Keeping my fingers crossed that Microsoft has lost interest in Window 10 and will stop "IMPROVING" it.

I tried both.  I downloaded the 2.8 version and checked the sizes of the DLLs.  The new one was a bit bigger.  I replaced the original DLL in the plugins folder with the new one.  Is that the correct installation procedure?  Both versions popped up the same error dialog box from IF average.

It is clear SDR# is trying to launch IFAverage, but as I said I am now getting an error message.  My fear is that some other support library was updated and is no longer compatible with IFAverage - I think it may have something to do with the Monogame library - but I am not sure.  The problem may even be specific to the particular hardware and associated DLLs in my particular laptop.

Are you using this ?

Here is a low cost solution :

And, after an initial configuration,
Put it in Airplane Mode
Disable Sleep, Hibernate, USB selective suspend
AND
Never Update the Software !

Easy : just an accidental mouse click in the SDR# spectrum window resets the center freq

IF you find a way to Disable this 'feature" please post !

1) v1.0.0.1919 is the version of Airspy I am using
2) No I don't have a restore point - would not know what to restore to if I did - Microsoft does updates almost daily.  My old Windows 10 laptop uses so much time doing updates the computer is useless much of the time - that is part of why I got a new one.
The new one is nice and fast and can handle the ridiculous updates MIcrosoft constantly distributes  - but so far - no luck with IFAverage (SDR# alone works fine).  I can still use my old laptop - so far - for collecting Radio astronomy data - so that is my current solution.
Thanks for trying to help.

1) Try downloading the latest ver of .NET for Win11
2) Dedicate the W10 to RT use.
I have PC one for RT which has been on a long distance air flight for over 1.5 years = no WiFi access & no updates.

Try downloading the latest ver of .NET for Win11, Restart & try again

This Lenovo ThinkCentre w/ W10 runs 24/7 without more than a reboot once a month or so.
Beyond that, I have never had an issue with software updates interfering with its use.

That error code is a failure to load the module.

Possibilities:

  • Wrong version of e.g. EXE 64 bit and DLL is 32 bit.  (or visa-versa)
  • DLL has other dependencies.

from the software developer :

The problem can be solved only if the plugin is compiled with the proper .NET framework.
The strange thing is that I have three computers with Windows 11, and the plugin works fine on all of them.
I will check that this weekend.

Just  a  thought....   If all  else fails maybe  try......

save/back up  all data
clean install  your  OS
install  AirSpy sdr# and  IF  Average plugin   with  current correct  versions for your  OS
I am not  a Windows  expert....    but  over the  years  on Linux   this  works  for  me   when I try  to correct   package  manager  errors  ...   installing   incompatible  libraries  I have found it is hopeless to  track down  all  dependencies.

I keep a separate  machine  available  for  playing/experimenting  with  new stuff.  Like  Alex mentioned and I agree..    it  is only  about  $300   to experiment  on a  machine    where you won't  lose   personal  valuable  data.

Good Luck,
Stephen

I have lots of computers - Linux and Windows - so this problem will not stop me - just wanted to be able to use my new machine.

My current project is creating my own data collection program, which I will integrate into my RAISE analysis software.  I used ChatGPT to create one in Python which is much like ezCol.  I will be testing it and comparing the results to ezCol and IFAverage.  If it works, I will be able create a cleaner implementation of my Raster acquisition system.

RAISE (Radio Astronomy Interactive Study Environment) is software I wrote for my raster studies.  Writing software is part of the fun of this hobby for me.
My results are included in the April SARA Journal if you want to see what I have been working on.  I am currently working on verifying my results by comparing
them with data collected by more sophisticated systems.  So far so good.

Today,as an experiment,  I installed Zadig, SDR#, IFavg 2.7 on a Community_Center PC Lab 10yr old Dell Desktop running

The  systems are on line every day and have the latest MS updates

Conclusion : SDR#&IFavg " should " work under W11 without issue
