Dear All,
I am leading the following session for some interested folks. We would like to invite anyone else to join us, who would like an introductory session on hydrogen line radio astronomy of the Milky Way – covers weighing and mapping the Milky Way and demonstrating the likely presence of dark matter. This session is designed for people who have never done hydrogen line radio astronomy before and you do NOT need any prior knowledge of radio astronomy, advanced physics, telecommunications engineering or the like - all that is required is an interest in finding out more.
21 Jan 2026 @ 8pm-10pm UTC. Introductory session on hydrogen line radio astronomy of Milky Way (Andrew Thornett, www.astronomy.me.uk).
Session outline: Roughly 40 minutes introductory presentation on what can be achieved at 1420 MHz in Milky Way, equipment needed & options, software choices, followed by discussion relevant to needs of participants.
If you intend to take, please can you drop me an email on andrew (at) thornett (dot) net as well so I know numbers.
