Hi, my name is Brendon Thornton, new member from San Diego, CA, USA, Earth, Solar System (0), Orion Arm, Milky Way. I have been a software developer for Radar for 15 years, working with SAR, MTI, Air-to-Air detect and avoid modes, etc. I love projects and find myself wanting to setup a receiver + antenna and sample natural signals from space. I enjoyed meeting a bunch of you at Drake's Lounge on Saturday! Same day, I came across a beer that I think captures the spirit of this crew of explorers (I was amazed):

Sincerely,
Brendon Thornton

Hello Brendon
WELCOME !

This may help you get started.

The Kraken Discovery Dish Feed with the 1m WiFi Dish  might be a good First System
You can modify the dish for better performance and then try a Loop Feed...

( these plots are from my Yagi, but~ equal what the Kraken/WiFI will do )

Hi Brendon,

================================================================

 The acquisition of the extremely low signal strength microwave radiation from
Galactic neutral hydrogen spin flip emission is not trivial.

Its strength is in the range of 1/2 to 1/30th the electromagnetic radio frequency
blackbody emission of the Natural environment ( plants / trees / buildings ) and many
times less than that emitted by Digital devices.
