Sigh, after 2 days of programming and a lot of help of Apostolos I got my Virgo running on new fast mini PC.
Windows is a pain in the ass for GNU radio / Python.
The problem is that I need Windows (before you tell me use MacOs or Linux) because...because I have a rotator which is controlled by Virgo and Cartes du Ciel (SkyChart) and that rotator is yes Windows based (PsT Rotator).
It would be heaven on earth if the creator of PsT Rotator could make a MacoS or  Linux version.

But..well tomorrow the new PC will be installed on the dish. Fingers crossed.

not that I know but I am curious if you have tried to run a linux virtual machine (on VM you have GNU Radio/Python) and in Windows you have what you said PsT Rotator and you could develop a bridge between the windows environment and the VM.

Good point but I have no idea how to make that connection. But instead of doing programming again a week at this time it works and if it works don’t touch it

Many years ago before I retired, we operated a Linux machine that shared a drive with a Windows machine. This was done by sharing the drive on Linux and mapping the same drive on Windows. It worked very well. This was when Windows still used a DOS operating system. Don't know if it still could be done under the current Windows.

Most of the writing to the shared drive was done by Linux during a nightly update. The Windows read the data as a part of its database operation. This avoided any conflicts on the shared drive.

There are plenty of more-modern approaches these days.  The VM can create a virtual network interface, and you can simply use of of
a hundred-carjilliion different techniques for doing app-to-app comms over the standard network stack.

Marcus & Job

I took a brief look at Cartes-du-Ceil. I have used it in the distant past. It appears that the software is ready to interface with data collection software. Under the "Samps" tab, it shows the features of what could be shared or read from the "Telescope" which in this case is a Radio Astronomy antenna and mount. I expect that Cartes & mount controller would provide the current Right Ascension and Declination of the object being tracked by Cartes.

This also could be done by calculation from an initial position using the clock on the systems to increment the Right Ascension.

The link between the software could be done with a shared drive. Perhaps Marcus can help with how to share a drive between the two sets of software using the current capabilities of VM.

If you don't need a gui for the GNU radio / Python stuff, and if you
are running a recent (better than 2004) version of Windows 10, then
try WSL2 which often works better than a VM - it gives you full access
from Linux to the Windows filesystem, and the the WSL2 file system
from Windows.

To use it (or if you just want a decent terminal application for
Windows) install Windows Terminal - easiest to do from the Microsoft
app store but there are other options listed on the programs GitHub
page https://github.com/microsoft/terminal
