Bonjour Bernard,

Hello Bernard,

Thank you for informing us. It is a shock for me, followed by great sadness. I had been corresponding with Jean-Jacques for a few years, he had welcomed me into the group of amateur radio astronomers that he had founded. He had given me good advice, with patience and kindness. I offer my sympathy to his family and friends.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Jean-Jacques Maintoux, technical expert, Upstream Studies Engineer, retired from Thales Air System. This is very very sad news indeed. J-J was legendary in the European amateur radio astronomy community, and has inspired
many others in this field.  Very sad indeed.

It is with great sadness to hear about the passing of JJ. I have communicated with him on many occasions and I have always admired his excellent work with his 3-m dish. This has been an excellent example that with careful and diligent work excellent results can be achieved.
His work will be remenbered as an outstanding contribution to the amateur radio astronomer community.

Very sad news indeed… coincidentally I checked his site recently and noticed that it had not been updated in over a year or so, while J-J used to be a very active member of the radio astronomy community… I already wondered if something might have happened to him.
It was largely J-J’s excellent work on OH masers and M31/ M33 what motivated me to pursue these challenging radio astronomy projects as well with my 3 metre dish.

So sadly ... Many EME-rs still use his traking software. Including me now using this software for traking masers.
