Saw the aurora photos posted on the HamSci list and thought since we're in a very rare (for north central Florida) low temperature and low humidity environment (about 32 °F and dew point at 27 °F), maybe we could see some of the aurora in Florida.

Went outside and thought the northern sky looked a tiny bit red in the aged Mark I eyeball, so I used my cell phone (Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) to make some long (about 10 seconds?) exposures held by hand.

L
o and behold, we actually saw the aurora this far south (29° 50' north latitude).

All photos taken 0405 UTC on 12 Nov 2025 from High Springs, Florida (about 20 miles northwest of Gainesville).

Wow that’s very far south, saw them here in the Netherlands as well but that’s not that extraordinary at 51 degrees north. Unfortunately it was mostly cloudy this night.

It's pretty much gone now -- and the Moon is now above the horizon -- but it got stronger around local Midnight.  Pic below at 0501 UTC.

I saw it here.  Even socked in with clouds, it was bright.  Can't imagine what it would have looked like if the sky had been clear.

Went through Durango in 2019.  Stayed at the Hampton Inn.  Great little BBQ place a few blocks away.

Nothing   so far  in Durango, CO   tonight, it  is  cloudy here.   Working  on  some  GNU Radio   stuff.  I have been  modifying  a  flow  graph  written  by   Pierre  Terrier ..   I have it  working  with  an embedded  Python  block  to  switch   output  streams  between the   actual  signal    and a  ref  signal like ezRA  works.    I use a variable  to make   the  switch ..    needs more work..  and  testing....
