BNC Connector Design Variations

The original cable supplied with the Kraken Discovery Dish System works Flawlessly 

I replaced it with a shorter one for convenience, but immediately began having issues with the signal levels shifting significantly.

HERE is the problem : 

Some (better) designs use a shield sleeve with a slightly over diameter lip to ensure it has a good connection with the mating connector.

Others use a fixed diameter shield sleeve and the contact is hit or miss and probably will change over time/temp.

Unfortunately : it is Impossible to tell the difference from a typical photo.

( I bought some good Amphenol connectors and am building my own cables )

Again : the Kraken Cable is FINE ..

I disassembled a few to show the variance.
