I am a newbie to radio-astronomy, media art student and intrigued by SETI initiatives. What do you think: Is it be possible to build a radio telescope, not only being able to receive and analyse signals, but also to send signals to space? Are there already projects like that? Any help would be appreciated! :)

Picking up a SETI signal takes a very sensitive radio telescope which is mostly out of the reach of a home amateur (but not impossible). The larger the dish the better. Then there's the receiver.... However, you can also join in in evaluating previously collected data from USC Berkeley. They pear into the cosmos at specific locations and collect data over time. They've collected tons of data just waiting to be analyzed. All you need is a computer.... The program runs in the background.

Might try these websites

Living in a HOA development eliminates me from most of this kind of activity....(no antennas!!)
Oh and money lol....

You can look at my SETI station and what it takes to build one here.

Thank you very much! I am already using SETI@Home. :)
