Science without politics.......

I know   that   we should  not be  political  in this forum ....   so    I am saying   we  must   find a  way to  promote our  science around the  world.     I  come   from  a  medical family...   

My  Dad    was  a Navy  Medic  with the  Marines  On Iwo  Jima,  WWII,  then a   family  doc....

We should  be   helping.......

First of  all,  my   Dad  was   Navy  Corpsman   with  the  Marines....   they  were not  called  medics.

Second ....  I  find  it  very   bothersome  that Science   has turned   political...    look  at  recent  events  with happenings   at the  CDC.

I understand  that  we  should  not  get political   here.  I just  want to make a  statement...   "Science  should not  be political"

I  might  be  banned  from   this   group    but  I must  speak out.   I know  others in this  group  are not  in USA.  Remember    that Einstein  and  the union  of concerned scientists    sent  a  letter  to President Roosevelt warning  him  about   Nazi  Germany developing   the  Atomic  bomb.......   I am   very  worried about  what is happening  in my  country.

While  we  are  dedicated  to our studies   I believe we must   take  some  time  to  reflect on   where we  fit  into our   Universe   remember  Carl Sagan!

Filling the discussion group with random thoughts - isn't true science or research.   Start compiling code & building your own antennas - instead of berating others for trying.

Please allow the moderators to do their job to help prevent flame wars.  The current manager(s) can be reached by going to the People/Members page.  If you click in the "Search members" box, you will find that you can reach the managers directly there if you believe something needs attention.  (Please realize we don't sit monitoring the group all day and that at least for myself, I get notifications of new posts often a day or three after they have been posted... thank you Google.)

Yes, this is over the border as it is not technical (per our group description).  That said, there have been multiple discussions about observatories and their outreach programs and adcovocy.  I had hoped that someone would make the obvious suggestions about contacting your representatives, better suggestions would be other options that could be explored.  

At this point, I will state that not non-topic relative background material should be avoided.  Please provide actionable ideas.
