Hi

I could not resist taking the dimensions of the antenna and calculating the parabolic curve. (all measurements in millimeters for one side of the antenna)

x y
0 0
51 1
102 7
152 18
203 25
254 42
305 64
356 90
406 120
457 155
508 192

Using formulas, I calculated the focus to be at 305mm.

I noticed that the antenna receiver is over 400mm away.

Does that make a difference?

Hello Conrad,

YES, I have run some tests on that system just this week.

From every feed I've used on that dish, the Correct Spacing IS ~ 30-35cm,
and the nooelec feed as supplied is in the Incorrect Location.
I have exchanged several emails with the nooelec team .. awaiting their results,

IF you want to compare results,
This is what I  obtained from the bright H1 region @ Dec+40 dg & RA 20:30

A calc of  on my dish  ( max depth 19cm ) shows an f/D = 0.33

Thank you, Alex!

That confirms I'm not completely crazy.

I have my "scope-in-a-box" outside right for it's first real-world test.

I'm looking forward to working with it over the next few months to construct a map of our galaxy.

Experiment with what you have .. then at some point,
lining the dish with window screen
and building one of these loop feeds will improve performance
