Suggestions For The SSA

As we all know the participants or members in the SSA has declined over the years and will continue to decline as most of us including OBTP are aging out. That certainly doesn't mean that the sport is dying, rather minimizing to a smaller group of participants. Availability and cost are certainly factors in the decline, less number of clubs, and the high operational cost of both clubs and commercial operators continues to accelerate. 

I would suggest a couple of changes that might save money and promote the sport. I know of a few clubs that do not offer training, make it a priority for clubs to promote training. Clubs should develop energetic youth programs. Our club just this past weekend checked out a youth member in the club ASW24, how about that for advancing the sport!

Spend money that returns dividends, talk is cheap, put money where your mouth is. On another subject the publication of Soaring magazine should be changed to a online publication that is done quarterly, soaring is basically a quarterly event based on which part of the country you are located. Hope to get a few more suggestions from others. OBTP
