Hello students,

this year we haven't devoted any time in the classroom to the Halloween celebration, but it's important that you know about it as a part of the anglo-saxon culture, especially the US. That is why you are going to work on it throghout the weekend.

First, go to http://www.headsupenglish.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=205&Itemid=52 and follow the instructions there. You will see a PDF file called "Handout". Print the first page and answer the questions with a pen. You must bring this sheet to class on Monday with the questions answered. Next to the PDF file, you'll find the audio file to listen to it as many times as you need.

Apart fro that, visit the following website http://www.i-am-bored.com/bored_link.cfm?link_id=53392 and read all the facts and figures focusing on the specific vocabulary and origin of the celebration and symbols. Some of you will have to explain some of those facts to the classroom on Monday and will be marked, so prepare it well.

And as the last part of your homework, research a little more about the origins of this celebration. Is it pagan? Religious? What connection is there between current celebrations and symbols and the original festivity?

Enjoy it and have a nice weekend!!!
