CALL FOR PAPERS: Society for Applied Philosophy Annual Conference 2022

University of Edinburgh, 1 - 3 July

Submission deadline: Monday 17 January 2022.

The Society for Applied Philosophy Annual Conference 2022 will be held at University of Edinburgh, 1-3 July 2022 (the SAP aims to hold an in-person event)

Keynote papers will be given by distinguished guest speakers:

Jennifer Saul (University of Waterloo)
Steve Wall (University of Arizona)
Clare Chambers (University of Cambridge)
Tommy J. Curry (University of Edinburgh)

Open themed event

The event will be an open themed applied philosophy conference (papers will be given across a wide range of topics in applied philosophy).

Submission process:

• Papers submitted for consideration must not have been published, or accepted for publication in final form, at the time of submission.
• Only one proposal per named individual is permitted (including co-authored papers and panel submissions)
• The conference will be an in-person (non-hybrid) event.  If restrictions determine that the event cannot take place in-person, the conference will move to an online event.  If necessary, a decision will be taken before registration opens in April 2022.

Further info:

• The conference will host up to 50 individual / co-authored papers across 10 concurrent sessions: 5 papers per session.
• Concurrent sessions will run for 40 mins each: 25–30 min for the speaker’s presentation, 10–15 min for Q&A.
• The conference will host up to five panels running concurrently over a two hour time slot, 
• Panel proposals should not exceed four papers to allow sufficient time for speaker presentations and Q&A.

Individual / Co-authored papers:

• Please submit a 1500 word abstract AND 300 word synopsis here.

Panel proposals:

• Please submit a 1500 word outline of the session along with a 300 word abstract for each of the papers in the panel here.
