Annual Conference 2024

St. Anne's College, University of Oxford, 28 - 30 June

(N.B. This will be an in-person event - there will be no hybrid attendance option.)

Open themed event
The SAP Annual Conference returns to St Anne's College Oxford in 2024. We look forward to  The event will be an open themed applied philosophy conference (papers will be given across a wide range of topics in applied philosophy).

Call For Papers:

The Call for Papers is now open. The deadline for submissions is Monday 15 January 2024.

The organisers will consider individual/co-authored papers or panel session proposals.  Up to 50 individual / co-authored papers will be included in the programme. Up to 5 panel sessions will be included in the programme. 

Please note that authors submitted under a panel session proposal cannot also be submitted for consideration amongst individual/co-authored papers.

Submission process

Individual / Co-authored papers:
  • Please submit a 1500 word abstract AND 300 word synopsis here.
Panel proposals:
  • Please submit a 1500 word outline of the session along with a 300 word abstract for each of the papers in the panel here.
Submissions will be assessed following the deadline and an outcome will be advised in (late) February / (early) March 2024.

Annual Conference Postgraduate Essay Prize
The SAP will consider applications for a postgraduate essay prize (£500) to one student for an outstanding essay submission.

Chairpersons
Chairpersons will be required for some of the sessions at the conference.  Chairpersons are responsible for introducing speakers during one (or more) of the concurrent sessions, ensuring the session begins and ends on time, and for chairing Q&A after the speaker’s presentation.  Chair persons must hold or have held an academic position in philosophy or have completed or be completing a PhD in philosophy.
