Title: EDI Architect Consultant

Location: Owatonna, MN (Near Minneapolis)

Model: Hybrid with occasional travel to client sites

Department: IT / Business Integration / Enterprise Architecture

Reports To: Director of Enterprise Architecture / CIO / Integration Program Manager

Rate: $85  per hour (C2C) 

Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced EDI Architect Consultant to provide leadership in the design, architecture, and strategic direction of our Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering enterprise-grade EDI solutions that facilitate seamless data exchange between our organization and external partners. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical EDI expertise, enterprise integration knowledge, and business acumen.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and develop a comprehensive EDI architecture framework, establishing standards and best practices to ensure scalable and secure integration solutions.
  • Design end-to-end EDI solutions, encompassing meticulous data mapping, intricate transformation logic, and seamless integration with ERP and backend systems.
  • Provide oversight for the implementation of EDI systems, ensuring strict alignment with enterprise architecture principles and overarching business objectives.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate EDI tools, middleware solutions, and communication protocols, including but not limited to AS2, SFTP, and VAN.
  • Collaborate closely with business and IT leadership to gain a thorough understanding of strategic goals and translate these into actionable EDI architecture and technology roadmaps.
  • Offer technical leadership and mentorship to EDI analysts, developers, and consultants, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the seamless onboarding and integration of new trading partners, ensuring strict adherence to relevant industry standards such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT, HL7, and TRADACOMS.
  • Establish robust monitoring mechanisms, effective exception handling procedures, and optimized performance tuning practices for the EDI environment.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, comprehensive architecture assessments, and detailed risk analyses for all EDI-related projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in EDI development and integration, with at least 3 years in a dedicated EDI Architect role or a senior-level technical capacity.
  • Demonstrable expertise in a wide range of EDI standards and protocols, including ANSI X12, EDIFACT, TRADACOMS, and HL7.
  • Significant hands-on experience with leading EDI mapping and translation tools such as IBM Sterling Integrator, Cleo Integration Cloud, Seeburger, or MuleSoft.
