Role: Research & Development (R&D) Engineer

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Duration: Contract


Job Summary

The R&D Engineer is responsible for researching, designing, and developing new products, technologies, or processes to improve existing offerings and drive innovation. This role involves testing, prototyping, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring concepts from idea to commercialization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to develop new products, technologies, or processes
  • Design, prototype, and test new concepts and improvements
  • Analyze data and interpret test results to validate performance
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and specifications
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and product teams to ensure feasibility and scalability
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards
  • Support product transfer from development to production

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Software, or related field)
  • 2–5 years of experience in research and development or product design (entry-level roles may require internships or projects)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in relevant tools (e.g., CAD software, simulation tools, programming languages, lab equipment)
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies and validation processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with prototyping and rapid development techniques
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (ISO, ASTM, FDA, etc., depending on industry)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration
