Job Title: Sr. Systems Engineer (Java Production Support Engineer)

Location: Reston, VA / Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Job Type: Contract

Hiring Manager Required skills:

  • Nigh shift role> 11PM — 7AM (5 working days).  
  • Come onsite for 2 - 3 weeks of training
  • Are available for OVERNIGHT shift
  • Are available for rotating WEEKEND shifts...
  • 1 phone screen and then onsite interview
  • PRODUCTION SUPPORT ROLE
  • First two weeks will be training with day shift people
  • Strong Java and spring boot, Restful, Web Services — MUST HAVE
  • Big data platform will be a plus

 

Job Description:

Seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer (Java Production Support) with strong hands-on experience in Java/JEE enterprise applications, APIM, and production support. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining large-scale enterprise applications while ensuring high availability and performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, test, and deploy enterprise Java applications.
  • Provide production support and resolve critical system issues.
  • Collaborate with teams to enhance existing systems and interfaces.
  • Implement best practices in code quality, DevOps, and CI/CD.
  • Participate in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technology improvements.

 

Required Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in Java/JEE, Spring (MVC, Boot, Batch, Integration, Security), Hibernate, REST/SOAP Web Services, SQL, and Maven.
  • Minimum 3 years of APIM and production support experience.
  • Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular/React/jQuery.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins) and unit testing (JUnit/TestNG).
  • Experience with UNIX environments and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) preferred.
  • Knowledge of security protocols (OAuth2, SSO, IBM WebSeal) a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent experience)
