சிகரம் தொடு! - மாணவர் வாழ்த்துக் கவிதை

பாஸ்டனைச் சார்ந்த மாசசூசெட்ஸ் தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தினர், உயர்நிலைப் பள்ளிப் படிப்பை நிறைவு செய்து புதிய பயணத்தை நோக்கிச் செல்லும் மாணவர்களைச் (High school grads) சிறப்பித்து ஊக்கம் அளிக்கும் வகையில் விழா ஒன்றை நடத்த உள்ளனர். இந்த விழாவை முன்னிட்டுக் கவிதை ஒன்று எழுதித் தருமாறு கேட்டுக்கொண்டதற்கு இணங்க அடியேன் இயற்றிய பாடல் இது.
சிகரம் தொடு!
(சிந்துக் கவிதை)
கண்ணில் நிதமும் கலையாக் கனவும்
… கனல்போல் விழிவிழிப்பும் - அந்த
விண்கீழ் எதற்கும் மிரளாத் துணிவும்
… மெலியா உடலுழைப்பும் - எழில்
வண்ணத் தமிழின் நடைபோல் மனதில்
… மகிழ்வும் மிகுந்துவிட்டால் - இனித்
திண்ணம் உன்றன் எதிர்கா லம்தான்
… செழிப்பாய்த் திகழாதோ? (1)
மனதின் விருப்பம் வலிதாய் இருந்தால்
… வானும் வளையாதோ? - பெரு
மனிதக் கடல்நான் எனநீ உணர்ந்தால்
… மனம்தான் விரியாதோ? - ஒரு
புனிதம் மிகுந்த இலக்கால் புவனம்
… புதிதாய்ப் புலராதோ - நீ
நினைவில் ஒளிர்ந்து நெறியில் சிறந்தால்
… நிலம்தான் பணியாதோ? (2)
எதிர்க்கும் இடர்கள் கலக்கம் கவலை
… எல்லாம் ஒழிந்தோடப் - பெரு
மதிப்புக் குரிய பெற்றோர் தியாகம்
… வாழ்வில் துணையாக - நெஞ்சில்
பதிக்கும் குறளின் பழம்பே ரறங்கள்
… பாதை வழிகாட்டப் - கடல்
உதிக்கும் ஒளிசேர் கதிரோன் அவன்போல்
… உலகில் உயர்வாயே. (3)
எட்டுத் திசையும் கொட்டும் முரசாய்
… எழட்டும் புகழெல்லாம்! - விண்ணை
முட்டும் சிகரத் துச்சி தொடட்டும்
… முயலும் வினையெல்லாம் - சுடர்
விட்டுச் சிறக்கும் பட்டப் படிப்பு
.. வெற்றி பலசேர்க்கக் - கரம்
எட்டிப் பிடிக்கும் எந்தப் பொருளும்
… எளிதில் அடைவாயே! (4)

“மனது” என்பது தற்காலத் தமிழ் வழக்கு என்பதால் (“மனதில் உறுதி வேண்டும்”), எளிமையான தமிழில் எழுத முயன்ற இப்பாடலில் “மனதில்” என்று எழுதினேன்.

(சிந்துக் கவிதை)
கண்ணின் விழியில் கலையாக் கனவு,
கனல்போல் விழிப்புணர்வு, - அந்த
விண்கீழ் எதற்கும் மிரளாத் துணிவு,
மெலியா உடலுழைப்பு, - எழில்
வண்ணத் தமிழின் நடைபோல் மனதில்
மகிழ்வென் றிவைமிகுந்தால் - இனித்
திண்ணம் உன்றன் எதிர்கா லம்தான்
செழிப்பாய்த் திகழாதோ? (1)
மனதின் விருப்பம் வலிதாய் இருந்தால்
வானும் வளையாதோ? - ‘பெரு
மனிதக் கடல்நான்!’ எனநீ உணர்ந்தால்
மனம்தான் விரியாதோ? - ஒரு
புனிதம் உடைய முனைவால் புவனம்
புதிதாய்ப் புலராதோ? - பலர்
நினைவில் நிலைக்கும் வகையில் நடந்தால்
நிலமே பணியாதோ? (2)
எதிர்க்கும் இடர்கள் கலக்கம் கவலை
எல்லாம் ஒழிந்தோட, - பெரு
மதிப்புக் குரிய பெற்றோர் தியாகம்
வாழ்வில் துணையாக, - நெஞ்சில்
பதிக்கும் குறள்நூல் புகட்டும் நெறிகள்

உதித்துச் சிறக்கும் கதிரோன் அவன்போல்

ஒன்றே குறியாக்கி, - ஒரு
தெள்ளத் தெளிந்த பார்வை யுடனே
செல்வாய் ஒளிநோக்கி. (4)

If your eyes hold creative dreams,
If your mind stays alert with a fire-like awareness,
If you have the courage to fear nothing beneath the sky,
And the discipline to work without growing weary,
If your heart carries joy, graceful and vibrant
Like the beauty of the Tamil language itself—
If all these qualities grow richly within you,
Will not your future surely shine with success?

If the desires of your heart remain strong,
Will even the sky stay beyond your reach?
If you truly feel, “I am part of this great ocean of humanity,”
Will not your heart grow wider?
If guided by a noble purpose,
Can not the world awaken anew?
If you live in a way that remains in the memories of many,
Will not the world itself honor your footsteps?

May struggles, worries, fears, and confusion
Fade away and lose their hold.
May the sacrifices of your beloved parents
Always remain a source of strength in your life.
May the values taught in the Thirukkural
Guide the road before you.
Like the radiant sun rising brightly above the ocean,
May you shine with light and purpose in spirit.

Having crossed many steps and completed your school journey.
Like a surging flood filled with energy,
You stand eager before the many paths opening ahead.
Let the betterment of the world
Become the one purpose filling your heart.
