Just an FYI -- we've decided to put the friday Juke blues dances on hold until summer vacation is over and we get a whole bunch of our favorite dancers to come back.  We're targeting early/mid-September, and plan to re-launch Juke in a big way.  Stay tuned for details later in the summer.  ALSO -- there's a lindy hop workshop and special blues and burlesque dance this weekend in ABQ.  Details are below.  Anna Whitmire is back in town teaching with Kevin for the workshop classes.

 

In the meantime, here's what's on this week and weekend:

 

Wednesday 7/8: Special 4 Week Progressive Lindy Hop class with Bandi and Silke
4 week progressive session, Wednesdays from June 17th thru July 8th
All classes at Studio East.  $40/session or $12/class
We’ll be teaching the fundamentals of our dance, both 8 and 6 count moves.  We’ll be mixing attention to good technique with giving you real, solid moves to use on the social floor. We’ll also work on dancing to a range of musical styles and speeds.  If you have experience with jitterbug or east-coast (6 count) swing, great! If not, that’s fine, too.   Bring a partner if you can (so you can practice), but it’s not required.  We strongly recommend committing to the full session—this is not for our sake, but your own! The more everyone is on the same page, the faster everyone can learn and the more fun everyone can have. And look, it’s cheaper!  Please wear dance shoes, or smooth soles.

Saturday 7/11 and Sunday 7/12: Lindy Hop Workshop with Kevin and Anna (ABQ)

Saturday 7/11: *** Weekly swing dance at new venue! *** (ABQ)
The Orpheum Arts Space, 500 2nd SW (at Coal)
Beginner Lesson 7-8pm, Dance 8-11pm, $3 introductory price for lesson and dance
The saturday weekly dance has moved -- come check out the new space!
 
Sunday 7/12: Beginner and Int. Progressive Swing classes with Mike Garcia!
Dance Station: 901 W Alameda St, Santa Fe
4-week progressive classes, basic and intermediate swing classes.  These start the first Sunday of each month.
6 - 7pm: Beginner swing (jitterbug, charleston, etc).  4 sundays for $48.
7 - 8pm: Intermediate swing / lindy hop.  4 sundays for $48

Sunday 7/12: Blues and Burlesque dance (ABQ)

Maple Street Studios, Central & Maple. 8pm - late.

Kenny is hosting a FREE blues dance with burlesque performances.  Come dressed in your best vintage or burlesque style.

The dance will wrap up the lindy hop workshop weekend, and feature DJ'ing by Kenny, Bandi and myself.

         
Monday 7/13: Monday Night Swing
Oddfellows Hall: $8 lesson & dance ($5 for students) / $3 dance only
This is a great place to bring new people to take Mike's drop-in beginner swing class.  The beginner lesson is from 7-8pm, with the dance from 8-10pm.
