SF Bay Eclectic Fiddle Tunes (& More) Session:
TONIGHT: TUESDAY (3/24/26) 7pm Pacific Time on Zoom
(& every Tuesday eve at 7pm PT):

Meeting ID: 841 0218 4782

---> What is our "SF BAY ECLECTIC FIDDLE TUNE SESSION" & how does it work?

As the name implies, our "SF BAY ECLECTIC FIDDLE TUNE SESSION" empowers participants to share tunes (& occasional songs) from a variety of cultural musical traditions instead of focusing on only one given tradition. The beauty of this approach is that it opens us up to the unexpected & frees us to express our musical creativity in ways that we may find unexpectedly satisfying.

In practice, this means that our session emerges from the tunes & songs that our participants share on any given evening. We may start off playing some Old Time breakdowns, then switch to Irish jigs, & then move onto sharing some Quebecois tunes. It all depends on who shows up & what they decide to play.

Basically, we're a fun-loving community of fiddle tune aficionados who have explored playing fiddle tunes--& often other instrumental music--from more than one musical tradition. Many of us are reasonably comfortable playing Old Time, Irish & Quebecois tunes. Some of us have also explored Californioso (old tunes from Spanish California), French & Scandinavian tunes, as well as a bit of Breton, Galician, Italian & even some Klezmer repertoire.

We & our online musical friends from around the world meet every Tuesday eve at 7pm PT for 2-3 hours to share our fav tunes & an occasional song. A variety of acoustic instruments are usually played by those who show up, including: fiddle, guitar, accordion, banjo, flute, penny whistle, keyboard, nyckelharpa, dulcimer & hammered dulcimer.

Come join us to play or listen. All traditional folk instruments welcome! Usually, around 6-9 musicians show up to our eclectic, friendly, inclusive round-robin musical gathering.

Looking forward to sharing some music with you on Zoom!
