Any WCMS paired with a robust AJAX framework?

I need to do a medium project that has things like keyword lookup, audio recording and playback, file uploading, drag and drop repositioning, and some other good stuff.

I've not messed w Ajax before and I'm hoping by now there are some wcms pairings that make it not painfully difficult.

I don't think any CMS does all of the things you are looking for off the shelf without the use of extensions/plugins.

http://www.squarespace.com/ does a lot of what you are looking for.

Wordpress and Expression Engine are fairly powerful platforms. Wordpress has a crazy huge community of plugin developers if you have the patience to wade through it all.

Well, I expect to need plugins.  Any WCMS that did all these things off-the-shelf would be hopelessly bogged down with a ton of  unneccessary other stuff you didn't need as well.

I am comfortable with the strengths and weaknesses of a few WCMSs, having decades of experience with Drupal, WordPress, and custom made stuff.  I'm okay if some effort is required.  I had a much better experience using WP than Drupal building a relatively complex portfolio site, though admittedly it didn't have complex database integration needs like my past D5, D6, and D7 projects.

I am looking to learn from your experience whether anyone here has first hand experience using AJAX plugins with WP, Drupal, or another web framework.  This will help me pick both a powerful WCMS and an AJAX framework for my next project.

Thanks.

Wes

Based on what you just said, I strongly recommend sticking with Wordpress. If you have a hard time finding specific plugins to fulfill specific needs you are having, please let us know. There's a plugin (or twelve) for pretty much everything under the sun, but quality varies pretty dramatically. Always a good idea to double-check with the Wordpress community (which happens to be well represented on this list).

As far as AJAX goes: lots of folks use it (on pretty much all the CMS platforms), it isn't always necessary, and without some more specific context, it's hard to make recommendations.

It sounds like you could write your own plugins in a pinch if need be? PHP and JavaScript help can be had here as well. The more specific your question, the easier it is to answer.
