Hey Geeks,
While many of you have been along on this journey of building our community since the beginning, I know there are many that may not have the full history. A few weeks back I did an interview with the Sentinel that hits a few of the highlights. It was published in yesterday's paper here:

As a group we haven't sought to be in front of the press. Rather it has been about building our network one geek at a time, building relationships, building businesses and connecting to each other. We are at a pivot point. It is time to raise the bar. We have many siloed tech communities here in town. And we have many that don't even know a tech community exists. It is time to change that perception and encourage more entrepreneurs to start businesses here and for more residents to work in their town rather than commute the hill.
TechRaising is an event designed to raise the bar on our tech community. It is a time and space for you to connect with our community of geeks and build awesome stuff. There's a few more hours left on the early bird price. I encourage you to get your tickets now and spread the word. Invite your colleagues, invite the guy/gal who commutes to Google/Apple/Ebay/startup soup of the month, invite the student hacker, invite the seasoned graybeard, invite the aspiring designer. Bring them and be part of raising tech in our bright little slice of paradise.

Just forwarded it to my clients at the City of San Leandro as an
example of what can be done. I'm doing a commercial broadband
strategy/policy report for them, and Santa Cruz is the benchmark.

Beautiful article. Testament to the years of sacrifice and hard work so many of us have put into this community with the hope for something much larger and more sustainable.
Hopefully this piece gets picked up on the national circuit!
