What’s the average experience level of the people attending the SC JavaScript Meetup? 

 

We’re doing some very interesting stuff with JavaScript and would love to support the local community here.  We recently completed a project for eBay that runs their entire Lobby of 120+ monitors – controlling all content displayed on the screens throughout the days of the week.  All of this done via a front-end we created using some fairly sophisticated, but very cool JavaScript.

We're approaching 400 members. Depending on the topic we can have anywhere between 10-40 people show up. Skill level is all over -- but I would say there are more jr-mid devs than senior devs at least with respect to javascript experience. A lot of people just trying to learn node or a front-end framework but have experience in other areas.

These sound like my kind of people.  We do a lot here, but I’m hugely driven by my love for JavaScript. 

 

I’ll have to think of a few topics that could be interesting to bring to the meetup.  I’ve been playing a bit with Elm lately, but I’m a relative novice there – Angular 1 and now 4 is where most of our work comes from and Hybrid Mobile App Development.  Vue.js is creeping into my world fast as well…  I could go on and on, as you know the JS universe is ever growing!

 

Thanks for the link – perhaps I’ll attend a meetup first and think of something interesting to bring with me following that,

Sounds interesting.  We built the entire framework in Angular 1 – a fairly good experience minus some of the backend API’s we had to contend with, but our stuff was fun to work with. 

 

I didn’t even know there was a podcast out of SC – I typically listen to JavaScript Jabber or Full Stack Radio.  What is the name of your show?

https://geekspeak.org - we have been podcasting since 2005. I've had many awesome local geeks on the show. 
Now we mostly record from the Netflix office in LG, because I'm there during the day anyway, and the conference rooms are nice.
