Dear SC makers,

Do you know of any places in Santa Cruz offering classes in joinery, or a community/membership-based wood shop? I've taken a couple classes at TechShop in San Jose, but the trip over the hill is becoming prohibitive when it comes to doing actual project work (and my apartment just won't accommodate a workshop). From my initial research, AFAICT there are no wood shop classes at Cabrillo, and the UC's facilities appear to be for art majors only. If you know that's incorrect, please let me know; more generally, I'd appreciate any good info on other local facilities.

Thanks,
Jordan

This has always been the plan for MakersFactory phase 2. If there is a real demand, get everyone (and I mean everyone) interested to send an email with what they're looking for to in...@makersfactory.com. We can arrange classes, but not for a group of less than thirty people. The classes would be smaller, but the space and classes need a committed group for it to work for everyone long term.

/Chris

I believe there is a wood shop class at Cabrillo. I know they have a shop in the new art buildings.
