A couple of you jamokes are under the delusion that chumming is
"highly illegal" in illinois. Those were your exact words. I just
shook my head and laughed my ass off because the alternative is to get
all pissed off, but it is not my job to enlighten the unenlightenable.
Where you people ever get these ideas is beyond me. Maybe your
fathers told you such nonsense and you accepted it as true, because
your daddy doesn't lie and he's always right. Good for you. I will
happily continue to chum openly while you guys do it on the sly.
For anyone else, the practice of chumming is NOT illegal in Illinois
waters, as long as you are not using fish entrails, or chumming for
game fish, or leaving trash in the water (e.g., a partially opened can
of corn thrown into the drink). The Illinois Fishing Regulations
publication issued by the DNR does NOT ONCE mention the term
"chumming"--not even in its "site specific" regulations.
So there!
I will be the first to admit I am wrong if someone can call me on this
one.
