Rennea Couttenye: Venezuelan music and film preview
Please RSVP as soon as possible, to ensure your reservation and to get directions to
Venezuelan art and music weaves a beautiful tapestry of colors, sounds,
and stories that define its rich contribution to the world. Join us for an
illuminating evening that will take you on a vibrant tour of what this tropical
country has to offer, focusing on the uplifting aspects largely absent from
the mainstream narrative. Venezuelan musician, Rennea Couttenye, will guide
you on a musical journey of her beloved homeland. Her dynamic combination
of jazzy vocalism, endemic instrumentation, and worldly rhythm sequences paint
a backdrop for these folk-infused stories to come to life.
Rennea will perform, and show a sneak peak of “
Cambur Pintón” a film-in-progress
that portrays this hopeful vision of progress through music in cinematic fashion.
We invite all to experience the essence of a country that is so often portrayed
in a negative light. Without discounting their struggles, these extraordinary artists
seek to highlight the joys and the integral role that music plays to contribute
positively in a seemingly hopeless situation. Guests are encouraged to engage
and ask questions as we immerse ourselves in an inspiring tale of hope in the
midst of hardship.
Although this event is free, Rennea will be soliciting donations to help
complete her film. If you cannot attend, but would like to donate,
