On p.26 of our text, the very first sentence in the right column is:
विद्युत् सरति
But I do not know what rule of the nominative case (p. 18 of our text)
dictated this.

See p. 22. It is simply a feminine noun with a consonant ending. The root and nominative forms are the same.
