Hi everyone,
I recently pushed a significant front-end and functional overhaul to SanskritSahitya.org. Here's a quick overview:
Key Technical & UI Enhancements:
Vector-Based AI Search: You can query verses using natural language semantic search. Note that literal exact text match is still supported. Integrated Tooling: Tapping highlighted words in $padaccheda$ now triggers a lookup against the Monier-Williams dictionary via a slide-over panel.
Dictionary Lookups: Tapping highlighted words in padaccheda brings up the Monier-Williams dictionary entry for it.
AI Summaries: Book, chapter and shloka summaries in English. Use the layers icon to customize what you see inline.
Anvay and Padachheda: AI generated anvay and padachheda for most texts. More to follow.
Bookmarks: Added the ability to bookmark a page and add "Notes"
UI: Shlokas are split by pada (anushtups are displayed as 12,34 while longer meters as 1,2,3,4) and breadcrumb-based navigation.
Theming: Implemented a warm scholarly theme with full dark mode support (auto-detects OS preference and supports manual toggle).
New Texts: I've added several major texts, including the Kathasaritsagara, Srimad Bhagavatam, Vishnu Purana, Chandraloka, Vijayachampu, Anyapadeshashatakam
If you’re seeing the cached version of the old UI, hit Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R. I’d love to get your feedback on the new features and overall site experience. Feel free to email me directly or use the feedback icon (✉️) on the website. Also, you can join the Whatsapp announcements channel to receive updates about new texts / features.
To help me prioritize the next round of updates: what’s the one feature or fix that is stopping you from wanting to use this site to read a Sanskrit text?
Regards
Antariksh
