कालेन रिपुणा संधिः काले मित्रेण विग्रहः ।
कार्यकारणमाश्रित्य कालं क्षिपति पण्डितः ॥
kālena ripuṇā saṃdhiḥ kāle mitreṇa vigrahaḥ |
kāryakāraṇamāśritya kālaṃ kṣipati paṇḍitaḥ ||
Peace with the enemy at the proper time and war (even) with an ally at the proper time : the wise (king) would mark time depending upon causes and results.
