कालप्राप्तं महारत्नं यो न गृह्णात्यबुद्धिमान् ।
अन्यहस्तगतं दृष्ट्वा पश्चात् स परितप्यते ॥
kālaprāptaṃ mahāratnaṃ yo na gṛhṇātyabuddhimān |
anyahastagataṃ dṛṣṭvā paścāt sa paritapyate ||
The fool who fails to grasp the great gem that had come to him in time, will have to repent later seeing that it had passed on to the other hands.
