कालत्रयेऽपि यत् किंचिद् आत्मप्रत्ययवर्जितम् ।
एवमेतदिति स्पष्टं न वाच्यं चतुरेण तत् ॥
kālatraye'pi yat kiṃcid ātmapratyayavarjitam |
evametaditi spaṣṭaṃ na vācyaṃ catureṇa tat ||
A clever person should not, at any time (lit., at the three times - past, present and future) state, definitively, as “it is thus”, anything which he is not sure of.
