Ibought a bootleg double dragon pcb because I read the bootleg version doesn't have any slowdown when there is more characters on the screen, but my bootleg has slowdown like the original has, I don't know what rom version I have is there a way to not have slowdown with a different rom version or installing a faster CPU? I don't know which is the CPU on my board though

That's a very good bootleg board ?

The two 6809 chips located center and at the bottom and will be the CPU's (MC68B09EP / MC68R09P)

According to the following post there is a ddragonb rom image taken from a different bootleg that might help but then you will need a eprom programmer to read your current chips and rewrite with a different rom file assuming your differ, this one is using 6309 CPU which is pin compatible with the 6809 which makes life easier not having to make some sort of pin conversion pcb...

Wonder if you could swap two 6309's in and replace the crystal (assuming its the bottom left grey crystal package i think?) with a faster one? that would work for the external clocked 6809 CPU, the other 6809 uses an internal clock i think so I assume the there is a 6309 variant that does the same (haven't checked)

I played double dragon back in the UK arcades around 1988/89 but would have only been about 6 at the time and remember the game awesome, played it last week in a arcade bar with a friend and was surprised just how much it slows down.

I have a genuine double dragon pcb back in the UK with a 63701 error that i need to bring out to australia and fix at some point so interested to know if there is anyway to improve it.

Interested to see how you get on if you do try and tackle it.

The MiSTer Double Dragon core had a 'turbo' option added by Jotego after he released it that makes it an entirely different game, so much more fluid and playable (also a bit harder though!). Interesting link though, I might have to look into that for my DD Boots at home!
