Hi all

I've got a client that needs their servers to be monitored quite closely
and for the last few years have been running Zenoss Core (3.2.1)

The client is now gettig ready to upgrade all of their servers and along
with it wants to move to a modern (and less error prone) monitoring system,

The newer versions of Zenoss seem to need huge amounts of RAM to run
properly so I have been looking at something less "enterprise" but am
strugglig to find anything suitable.

I have tried out Spiceworks but it's awfuly slow and takes forever to alert
you to issues.

I really like PRTG but the licence costs are offputting.

I would use Nagios but I need to let the client do basic admin of the
system sometimes and am pretty sure they would never get to grips woth
Nagios.

Does anyone have a suggestion of free or at least cheap server monitoring
software that I could try out?

what about zabbix ? I am currently testing it, it seems good.

I have also checked out observium but it does not do alerts.

I like Sensu. It's a fairly complex setup, but it's easy to CM it. I've got
some Ansible code to do so if you're interested.

Cheers

libreNMS ?
LibreNMS is a fork of Observium and it might do enough for your situation.

hmm my track pad clicked send before I finished that last e-mail.

I meant to so say

I am an Observium user with plenty of Alerting going on. That may be part
of the licensed version perks. LibreNMS seems to have it by default.
