Hi Everyone,

I got a call from a group of potential volunteers who had a hard time being approved by their corporation to come down this weekend, but can probably make it next weekend.

I wasn't sure what we would be doing the Friday, Sat, and SUnday after Thanksgiving, but they may be able to bring from 20 to 30 people down.

They wanted to know
--what would be needed in terms of volunteer work
--what they should bring
--where we would recommend they stay

I offered my place for one person or a couple (its very small), and I said they could go through AIRBnb. But if someone has better advice, let me know.
Also, where they might be put to use.

Her name is Jean Corino, and her email address is jca...@rochester.rr.com. Her telephone no. is 585-303-2634.
I can continue to follow up with her if someone gives me info.

thanks
Jen B

The Google Team has done an amazing job at pooling volunteer needs, so I should think they should be your first option. However, if you wish to communicate other opportunities to volunteers, this is the info I've been passing around...

If you are not mobile go to http://interoccupy.net/occupysandy/ the occupy organization is really great at finding both travel and work for people, they have a home base at St Jacobi church in Brooklyn.

If you are mobile and can get to the Rockaways on your own:

If you want to dig (muck out):

Team Rubicon at Beach 123rd st & Rockaway beach blvd. Cal can help you out or anyone, just say you want to volunteer.

If you want more Admin, serving food, misc.

Go to St Francis at Beach 129 & Rockaway, speak to Debbie or another volunteer coordinator.

If you want more serving food, distributing etc.

There are several relief sites across the Rockaways that you can go to directly, such as Veggie Island (95-19 Rockaway Beach Blvd at Beach 97th Street) and Surf Club (302 Beach 87th Street).

If you want to volunteer in a more formal way with the city please contact http://www.newyorkcares.org. You will need to fill out quite a bit of info for them.
