How is Markdown enabled in Etherpad?

ep_markdown is one of the plugins in Etherpad, but I can't find out to activate it. What am I missing?

Hi vfclists,

I actually removed the ep_markdown plugin in the last release because the functionality it provided was actually the opposite of what most people wanted: enabling markdown mode caused it to render your rich-text as if it were markdown (e.g. adding # characters in front of headings), but it did not allow you to type your own markdown.

It looks like I forgot to remove ep_markdown from the startup text, probably leading to your confusion. Sorry about that. I filed an issue:

Have you found an Etherpad solution that allows you to *compose* in Markdown?

No. This is what most people expect the markdown plugin to do, but alas, it does not.
