Rocketchat unable to upload images?

Rocket chat: 0.28.0 

Installed, created a new grain, posted some text, all good, attached a small (60kb) .png file and there is nothing attached. 

Not sure how to debug or check logs. 

Its all on default settings, file upload points to GridFS, png seems an allowed filetype: as it is listed: image/*

Tried a txt file, uploads finem, cannot open, getting: 

403: Forbidden

Can anyone confirm or test this please?

If you have admin access to the grain, does setting "Protect uploaded files" to false fix things?
