Sandstorm transitioned from being a startup to a community open source project a few years ago. Most of the "marketing" in various channels was done by the old company. Sandstorm is both being maintained and app development is continuing, and we have some plans this year for some significant announcements and progress for the project. At least in the very short term, if you are looking for a significant pace on new features and development, you may be disappointed. But we do have a plan for the longer term, and many of us here rely on Sandstorm on a daily basis and do not find anything comparable in terms of security and maintainability. Sandstorm servers tend to be pretty fire and forget once they're set up correctly, mine has been running without issue or any real maintenance for five years at this point, and several are close to a decade old.
