I'm going to take a look at porting Wallabag: https://www.wallabag.org/ It's a an alternative to services like Instapaper and Pocket.

They've just released version 2. I have it hosted on a VPS and it's a very nice app. In addition to the web interface it has extensions for Firefox and Chrome, and has apps for Android iOS and Windows phone.

I've added a card on the 'Under Discussion' list here: https://oasis.sandstorm.io/shared/3T7_gZPyWs9BuuTNoWRSa3ZqLv6F-4-IdYUvKYmcs-y

The challenge for me will be allowing outbound HTTP requests. I'll look at how Tiny Tiny RSS achieves this, but any other suggestions or hints gratefully appreciated. Or if someone would like to work with me on it, give me a shout.

Hi Tom,

Cool to see you here. I would definitely love to see wallabag on sandstorm.

I'm having a similar issue with outbound connections. Unfortunately TinyTinyRSS uses a very old component of sandstormGetHTTP which will not work with current builds and new apps. See this issue on github for details: https://github.com/sandstorm-io/sandstorm/issues/1648

Right now I'm not able to invest more time here and I hope Asheesh will be able to help with some up to date examples.

Cheers
JJ

Hi all!

I believe that R.P. Dillon was also working on that! And I think you're right that outbound HTTP will be a challenge. If you feel like writing some C++, the thing to do is adjust this code -- https://docs.sandstorm.io/en/latest/developing/web-publishing/#a-helper-program-you-can-include-to-enable-publishing-request-a-publicid -- to work with httpGet. I hope to work on that shortly.

Honestly, it'd be a great use of my time to remote-pair-program with you on that, Tom, if that interests you at all. Let me know what you think of that idea.

Thanks for the replies. It'll be a week or so before I can take a proper look at this. Sounds like fun to work on it together Asheesh. Let's chat by email next week and come up with a plan.
